About 2 weeks ago, I DV'ed the university that I attended, oh about 6-8 years ago, about a Collections that was/is listed on my CRA report. Well, about a week ago, the lady in charge of the Student Loan Collections office called me and gave me a run down on the account stating that I owed a little over $1700 blah, blah, blah.....Well, I explained two items with her.....first, I wanted t see the promissary note that I signed and also I found it ironic that I would be charged for anything at the institution since it was all paid for by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and that they had a Bill that was submitted to them for the exact amount the university was claiming I owed and that the VA had paid (The VA Faxed this information to me and the account numbers matched).
Well low and behold......Trans Union, just finished there investigation on Friday and this account was removed from my report. Not only that, but today, when I got home, I had a fax from the Office of Student Collections that is an account statement and it shows:
total loan advances $17xx.xx
Total paids $17xx.xx
principal balance $0.00
The funny thing is, that a person in this very same office on Friday just told my mortgage broker that I owed this money.......I faxed this statement right over to him and he just said.....I wonder how they plan to refute their own billing statement that says you owe nothing?
So what do you all think.....did I get lucky?????
