How to Stop an OC from calling after SOL runs out?

How does one stop the Original Creditor (not a CA) from making multiple daily telephone calls to a residence?

OCs are not governed under the FDCPA! A cease and desist letter won't work!

Any suggestions?

Thanks a million!

I replaced my land line phone with a fax machine and turned the ringer off. At some point they stopped calling me.

How about paying your debt? Seems like that would work. If you can't afford to pay in full, how about working out a payment plan you can afford?

I agree that both of the above suggestions might work, short of a legal means to keep an OC from making Telephone calls?

Re: How to Stop an OC from calling after SOL runs out?

The debt is not mine. I am trying to help a friend's spouse that is very afraid to deal with creditor calls. We checked her MyFico equifax report. The report shows has 220, yes I said 220 lates and a 550 MyFico score.
The amount in question is 15850.00 and is past SOL. The OC calls at least twice or thrice daily to ask the same question: When can we expect payment? We will hound you forever as we have accounts here that are from 1993 that we are working on.
The OC (not a CA) calling is AMEX.

That number stopped me in my tracks as well!

One question tho....if that is past SOL, then those 220 lates, I'd assume, are from other late accounts...right? Smiley Surprised
BK 7 discharge 06.24.2020 No Fico score at all. Smiley Sad

Re: How to Stop an OC from calling after SOL runs out?

I  was stunned when I saw first saw the report! The 220 number came form the MyFico report, and covers a range of numerous revolving accounts. She has settled some that are still within the SOL such as BOA, but her AMEX is several years past SOL. The good news is that she is now more aware of her credit standing. Her husband had a 806 score without any lates or derogatories.

It is said that opposites attract! Apparently, this is true with this couple's Fico scores. Smiley Wink

Re: How to Stop an OC from calling after SOL runs out?

If in fact this debt is past SOL, the next time the phone rings, cut them off and tell them that this debt is timed barred and if they call again you will sue and WIN in court.

The law well states, a collector may call BUT may not call to the point of harrassment or cause repeated calls.

If I am not mistaken they are allowed to call 2 times a day, once in the AM and once in the PM between the hours of 8 Am and 7-8 PM.

I once had a  CA call while still within the legal hours for THEM, I told them I was an hour behind them and they just created a violation for calling me BEFORE 8 am, never heard from them again.
