Haha, I don't think I have ever encountered a ratio of newcomers as high as in this thread.
Let me share something with you I have been in the financial world for about 20 yrs. The amount you use on your card if it is consisitent and if you pay it off every month before the due date you will establish yourself. it shows LENDERS you are responsible that will build a credit score as well it does not matter when it reports what matters is # of inquires which I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH. Why should your credit score go DOWN just because of inquires but that is the case. Also how much credit you are using. How long the account has been established. This too also effects your score. I myself think credit is easy to get and HARD TO PAY BACK. I have seen people that have a champaign taste on a BEER BUDGET. What I try and do is keep in mind that if I was a loan officer sitting in a bank would I approve this person for a loan. I hope this helps!!!!
some creditors have a statement date (bill cycle) and a due date. if that is true, then most report to the bureau on the statement date and NOT the due date. Of course you have to pay the balance on the due date, but leave the account at a zero balance until after your statement dates. You should call them to ask when they report the bureau and that will give you more insight on how to pay and use your credit cards and still reflect a zero balance on your credit card each month.
have my struggles and still learning to manage my credit. For now I use one credit card and thanks to my FICO alerts about my balances I always ensure that my balance on this card is on or below 30% of its credit. I have other credit cards that I use infrequently and in amounts on or below 30% because the key to managing your credit is using your credit cards wisely.
