I am about to do a name change.., and I figured Transunion, Experian, Equifax and Innovis are all willing to delete/replace the old name history with the new one, they are also willing to delete the addresses I used in the past.
But when I called LexisNexis they said your old name is part of your old identity history and we won't delete that, do you think there is a way I can get rid of that or an excuse of some sort?
2nd Question) are most of the rental companies run LexisNexis as part of their background/credit check? how about employers, do they usually run LexisNexis for their background check?
I can put a freeze on LexisNexis, but I don't know how common it is for rental comapnies or employers background check to require the LexisNexis report, I have clean records and 810 score, I just don't want the rental office or employers to have access to my old name.
Thx
Previous name stays, just like previous addresses and employers stay but aren't listed under "current"
Name change doesn't lead to clean credit report.
If they do remove the name for some strange reason, credit history with previous name is attached to a new name.
Even addresses aren't supposed to be removed unless they are erroneous ones (places you never lived).
no sir, your employers history, can only be seen/found, if you made a mistake by filling out credit apps or any other apps with your real employers name.
and previews names and addresses can be disputed and it will be granted, but not e.g. with LexisNexis, I haven't gone over Sage, ARS, CoreLogic and Tenant yet.

3rd party data like LexisNexis, SageStream, Innovis, ARS, CoreLogic, etc are used to correlate information and all that is available to verify information such as income, employment, and so on. If changing that with a simple name change was possible I imagine there would be more unscrupulous ways of taking advantage of that loophole

In it's raw form, credit report contains all addresses but only one as current.
It contains previously reported employers, again only one reported as current.
Name goes in "Names listed" which includes all names used, complete with misspellings and name changes.
The only way to disassociate name from date of birth, social security number, and address is to enter witness protection program.
Also, keep in mind for legal purposes and background checks, things work a little bit differently, so most likely they will gain access to your previous name if background check if performed even if on surface it appears that it was removed. CRA can, do and must retain information, it's just the visibility issue.
This is typically encountered during mortgage applications over certain amount and background checks.
Rental companies typically perform credit and background check.
Ok I have a different question..
what about the people who do not have a consent to run a trace on you...
there are websites like TruthFinder or Peoplewise(powered by LexisNexis), although I couldn't find the Peoplewise on google...
They are claiming they have access to the public records, removing yourself off these websites by sending email to them is not a remedy since there are other sources and the primary source itself that still accesible to the public.
Now I haven't updated any documents with my new name yet..
I don't want anyone who knew my name in the past simply go and access one of these websites and find out about my new identity based on my previews name...
what can I do about that?
Thanks
Well, that's the pickle, you do not have a new identity, you have a new name.
As far as removing it, again, it's just a name change, it doesn't erase identity or anything that happened prior.
If person decides to change their last name after they get married, their previous life isn't erased. It's just a name change (public records), not some life VPN.
LN (and other data aggregators) routinely examine court records for data like this, not making the connection between the two is almost impossible.
They aren't doing anything illegal or shady. I'm sure future landlord wants/needs to know who is living on their property, how safe they appear to be, have they committed crimes etc.
Same goes for employers.
What you are looking for is an impossible scenario in this day and age.
Maybe just addressing what you don't want them to know would be a better course of action.

So you are intentionally providing false information on credit applications in a deliberate attempt to conceal your true identity?
cool, got it!

So you're saying there's a chance. lol
