No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
You score may have dropped because your mortgage loan may be gone. I suggest you get hard copies of all you reports from the big 3 and go from there.
What I mean is get your reports and go over them to see what is on them. You can post your scores and credit profile and members here will help explain and offer advice.
Yes losing a mortgage loan can cost you points, FICO likes credit cards and at least one installment loan in the mix.
You mortgage person will get a version of FICO that is different from what you see, there are several versions.
I suggest you read and read some more on this forum, there is a wealth of information here. Search button is a good thing

Hi all...
I am really confused as to what happened to my credit score. I recently got divorced and my score dropped feom 800 ro 705. Only difference is that i am no longer on the mortgage. I am looking to buy a new house and my score is worrying me.
Even though I am 48 yeard old and have been building credit for many years, my score states that i have 5 years of credit history and many of the accounts listed on the report, I do not recognize. Is there a number to call in order to get an explanation or to get this resolved?
Thanks,
Rich
Welcome to the forums, Rich!
That happened to my friend, as well.
My advice would be to get an installment loan, like, say, Self-Lender. It is free, it requires no credit check, and you can build credit (not in your case---you already have a well-established credit history) while you save. Check it out!

You need to see your reports and you need to see your current mortgage scores, which means you need to buy a full 3-bureau report and see what's what.
I'm sure you do not know what your FICO mortgage scores are, and without the reports we are unable to advise you properly on ways to improve your scores.
