How to get accounts deleted?

Hey guys!

Hopefull you can assist me...I've ran into some serious financial hardships within the past 4-6 months and now I'm finally starting to get things under control...the problem is I was naive to not communicate with a lot of creditors, and it's caused most of my accounts to be closed and sent to collections...I only have two accounts, an American Eagle and Capital One credt card that are active and in good payment history. I've been seeing a lot of information on here regarding deleting accounts, and raising scores, etc...I'm hoping to move soon, and with signing a lease comes a credit check, and additional expenses, and I would like to be able to have everything go in my favor...Any help would be appreciated!

Are the accounts with a CA or with the OC still?

We are not going to be able to assit you in removing accurate data from your reports-

Getting these accounts current with the OC and getting accounts pulled back from the CA's is a great way to get started.   

Lesson learned- Communicate with your creditors- many will help-

Isn't that exactly what a GW letter does? You have a late payment, it is late, and you request for them to remove it based on a good will gesture.

Wouldn't it have been more accurate to tell the original poster that you, yourself, can't help because you aren't able to?

The only way to have accurate information removed the correct way is to PFD or GW.

But first more information is needed as to whether with CA or OC, the DOFD, DOLA, SOL, etc.

Thanks for the replies! Some accounts are both CA & OC...still trying to grasp all these abbreviations...

A few accounts I've arranged payments plans with, so I'm automatically paying them every month, and not being charged interest, over the limit fees, etc...I've communcated with some, but not all...

Ok there is a sticky about credit repair discussions.  If you want info on GW, I believe there are stickies there to.  I think the way your question was worded sent off alarm bells.  It sounded as f you were looking for a way to just hae the accounts deleted.

You have several options to improve your credit.  You can oay and keep the debts from being resold.  Being careful to check out the SOL and FCRA limitations on reporting.  you can goodwill.  You can settle for less than the amount owed.

I woud like to get some of my past accounts deleted. I have a lot of satisfactory accounts, but a few that aren't from 2004 and back, that is what I meant by having those accounts removed. If I have two active and in good standing accounts, is it a smart move to pay off those two immediately and keep using them, then paying them off to improve my score?
