How to pay off an account in ChexSystems?

Where do I post for a new account that was recently placed in ChexSystems?

I never once had anything on my ChexSystems report. I had items on my Credit Reports but not ChexSystems. I requested my report and am waiting to receive it. So, how do I do this so I could open additional accounts or with another bank, and such?

You can call your original bank's recovery department or visit a branch to find out how much you owe and what to do to pay it off.

I think it is pretty rare to get a PFD for Chexsystems. But they do mark it as paid after you pay it off.

If you can't pay it off, and need a bank account, you may need to shop around. There are plenty that will let you in with smaller things on chex. If you hosed your original bank for several hundred or thousands of dollars it may be more difficult.

Re: How to pay off an account in ChexSystems?

The bank was People First Federal Credit Union. I owe them $400.12.

I now have Provident Bank and I got into Provident before People First reported it to ChexSystems. I want to keep Provident Bank. I have just a checking account with them. I was looking at there savings and the one is I need to maintain $250 to avoid service fees, so I was going to open a second checking account and use that second checking account as a savings because I only need $50 to open a checking and I do not need to maintain $250.

Opening another account, especially checking, at your bank seems risky. $400 isn't huge money, but is over the $50-$100 or so ChexSystems unpaid threshold some banks will overlook. Worse, because it's unpaid, there's a possibility of your current account being shutdown at any time. Not likely, but can't be ruled out. Plan accordingly.

If the ChexSystems entry is relatively old, that can help, but less so when it's still unpaid. However, after 5 years, ChexSystems removes derogatory entries, paid or not, automatically. If it's close to 5 years, sit tight for awhile, and then, about a month or two after 5 years has passed, open that second account.

ChexSystems PFD is uncommon, so don't count on that. However, a paid in full entry will greatly help, if your current bank and/or when new bank pulls ChexSystems.

It has only been like a few weeks not even close to 5 years.

Been only a few weeks... Wow, you played it close. Congrats on getting in under the wire. Hopefully, they don't pull ChexSystems a second time. Not sure if that's common, but if happens to you, your account will likely be closed in a flash.

5 years is a long time to wait. If you have the $400, contact your previous bank asap and pay it off in full. Otherwise, soon you may see a collection show up on your credit reports too.

I had an account through Baxter credit union that offered to delete it off chexsystems when I offered to pay, I didn't even have to ask. it was also a $19 balance though.
