How will FICO score handle this?

In about 6+ months time I will start in on the fun process of refininacing.  refinancing as weill be getting aroudn 25k for home improvements, and drop my weighty apr from 7%.

I know that shopping for mortgage rates will not ding your score more then 5 points if done within 14 day period.  My question is, I will have a ding fall off my credit report, hopefully and also an inquiry fall off of it as well.  I want to check my credit at the beginning of the process so I do not go into it with lower then expected credit.  will the inquiry of my FICO scores, drop my credit, then when I start shopping, it will drop my credit again?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Checking your own score will not impact your score.

Welcome to the forum Fliphusker! Just like MJ said, no question is a stupid question here. Plus, we don't judge because most of us have "been there."

Those things  make us pretty awesome on this forum. I'd say top 50% on the internet Smiley Very Happy
