Congratulations, I hope I get to where you are at one day.

As I said if someone as credit illiterate as I was for so many years can achieve this then all is possible. You and others have the advantage of tapping into the knowledge available here. My climb out of the debt doldrums was mostly crawling around in the dark.

Re: I finally got there.

Thank you very much, for posting your message and inspiring others, that they can also

be a member of the "FICO High Achievers Club"(scores of 760 and above).

There is a sticky on the other board "Understanding FICO Scoring".....

Thread name..... "FICO High Achievers Club"(scores of 760 and above)characteristics.

Hey Marinevietvet....

You may want to post something, on the high achievers thread,to encourage

others that an 800FICO is also reachable .Smiley Wink

Maybe myFICO needs to start another thread.....for those over 800.

I have thought that, too!  Wouldn't it be fun to pick their brains and see what really constitutes different 800 scores?  I think it would be SO interesting.

Re: I finally got there.

I can't really say what made it go from 760+ to 800. I think just continued aging is a big part of it although I have a new car loan from December that must have dropped my AAoA a little. I'm too lazy to run the numbers to verify that.. Smiley Happy

On the first page showing the FICO score ingredients it has:

Payment history                    Great

Amount of debt                      Very good

Length of credit history       Very good

Amount of new credit           Not good  Smiley Sad Must be that car loan

Under what's helping my FICO score:

No missed payments

Oldest account opened 21 years, 7 months ago

AAoA 6 years

Utilization 5%

Recent use of credit cards

It says I have too many accounts though (38).  Oh well we can't be perfect. LOL

I guess I should have been more clear. It wasn't a NEW car loan. It was a new car LOAN. It was a 2000 Chevy S-10 for my son.
