I find it odd...

...that I paid of over $5,000 worth of debt over the past three weeks and nothing has even registered on my credit report yet.  I know ccs report to the bureaus at different times of the month, and I think I'm just being impatient.  It's just hard to pay down a good chunk and then not see anything immediately.  Not even a little note from Score Report stating "one of your balances shows a decrease." Smiley Happy Oh well!  Guess it will happen soon enough.

And thanks to everyone on the board who has helped me along the way.  I've taken a lot of advice from this board and I am so grateful it's around.

Congrats in paying off that debt!

CCCs usually report on the statement date, but not always. How much do you think your utilization decreased by?

From the time you pay (and where in the cycle you are) - it can take anywhere from 1-3 months for the 'adjustments' to util to all get on your reports.

You are NOT being impatient - you want to see the results of you actions!

My utilization decreased by almost 20%.  I'm still wayyyy up there, but I'm working on it!  Slow and steady wins the race, right? Smiley Happy

I noticed this with others, and I'm sure it is just a coincidence, but I noticed for every 1% I pay down, I gain one point, so as long as there aren't any cards maxed out.

Re: I find it odd...

My wife and I had a $6000 credit card bill with WAMU.  Payments were as high as $600 / month.  They told us that if we made a lump payment our %rate and payment would go down substantially.  As soon as we made a lump payment of $3000, WAMU, in their infinite wisdom, lowered our credit limit and raised our %rate to an amount just below our new balance and started charging us over the limit fees and other charges which brought our payments back up to over $300 / month.

WAMU is the worst CC company ever to even consider to use these type of practices.  Soon as we pay this bill off we will recommend that an investigation be conducted with the BBB, television coverage and the FTC.Smiley Mad
