I have a collection on my report that isn't a real name, how do I clear this up?

Below is what is currently being reporting on my credit report with Equifax.  I have no idea what this is from. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?  I don't even know who originally the money was owed to.  

Equifax: Collection on debt to: Not Reported

The collection agency "083yc00000" was hired to collect a debt of $177 originally owed to "Not Reported" on account number "X3941".

I take it that's what's showing up on your reports from MyFico.  If you pull your report directly from Equifax, it will show you exactly who the company is.

I bet it's a medical collection. FICO munges the collection agency names for that sort of collection.

I agree.  My medical collection is similar.  The CA name is there and has those characters after (08yy087606).

Ditto to everyone else. However, EQ also did that for a CA collecting on behalf of Sprint once.
