I have too many issues...on and off my CR

When I got married, my husband had a good income, therefore, I thought he was financially stable.  A good contrast to my youthful irresponsibility.  It wasn't one of those things like, hmm, what's you're favorite color? you favorite band? your credit score?

It turns out, he has worse credit than me.

Now, we're (I) am cleaning it up.  He tried, but I think he'll get himself in more trouble with all of the cursing at the CA's, so it falls to my patience to resolve it. ('i'm lucky they're not suing me for his mouth) so, it's pretty apparent they're not going to good will the collections off, not all of them anyway.

So I'm wondering how providian can give one man 4 different credit cards?  They show different account numbers on the CR, so I paid them all, but there were like 30 collections on the CR.  It was ridiculous.  It got to the point that I would get 5-6 in the mail every week.  I settled/paid them all, but then I caught onto the fact that I'd settle one and then they'd send over the difference between the settled amount and the balance and try to collect that.  I'd ask for a PIF letter and they would say we need 30 days for payment to process then they would send it.

I also had debts sold from one CA to another CA and paid them both for the same account because they were showing up with different account #'s.

It's my fault for not being more cautious, and being more aware of my rights, but now he has the original creditor on the CR with a 0 balance that says transferred, then 3-4 other CA's with 0 balances on that same debt.

Can they all be on there for one debt?  they've all been paid, some twiceSmiley Indifferentgrr

They're not going to GW them off, any ideas on how to cut down the number of collections on settled/pif accounts other then GW?

An OC can report a CO and assign it to 1 CA. Both can report at the same time. IF the assignment is returned or pulled back from the CA....they are to delete it (CA)   but they do not.You have to dispute them or DV them. Then the OC assigns or sells the debt.

The CA can report up to the 7 - 7.5 years from DOFD/DOLA.

you can have 1 OC and 1 CA report the same debt!!

You must know your SOL so that you do not get sued!

Send GW letters to whoever you have paid  if they are still reporting.

We use  disputes with the CRAs to make corrections....DV letters to CAs (better when past SOL).....and PFD to OC and CA     Each are for a different reason and done at different times.

Re: I have too many issues...on and off my CR

Thanks sooooooooo much for your advise.  I've paid them all though and they all show 0 balances on all three reports.  TU is stating a major portion should be off by 10/2008 beacuse they defaulted in early 2001.

They don't count the 7 yrs  from the time you've paid do they?

I have paid them all and some twice.  They can't sue me now because I've paid or settled on all of them, right?   I was saying that I'm lucky they didn't sue for my husbands raunchy words to them when he tried to handle it.  I haven't heard the F* bomb that many times...ever...and I was in the Marine Corps and they use it a llllllllllllooooooooottttttt...  The CA must have notated his account with something like..this guy is crazy ... and swears a lot, and says he will find us, don't GW his collections.

So I've paid off everything, all payments on house and cars are current and have been, other than GW anything I can do since I already paid everything else and paid down all of the credit cards to 0 balance.

Re: I have too many issues...on and off my CR

I also need to dispute those CA inbetween the OC and the final CA, do I have that right?
only 1 CA and the OC.

Yes, dispute or DV any CA that is showing that does not own the debt.

I'd concentrate on the ones that aren't due to fall off in a few months, unless you are planning a major purchase in the meantime.
