I just don't get it....

I have been reading this forum for a few months.  Mostly as a lurker.  What I don't understand is while I am struggling to hit the 650 mark others whose reports sound worse than mine get scores in the 700's.  My only derog is a 4 y/o bankruptcy, one collection from 3 years ago that is paid. And a mortgage forclosure that went with the Bk.  Otherwise and for the last few years, no lates, paid off all cards two months ago so now only have balances on two.  Car loan and new mortgage in good standing.  I almost wish I had more bad things so that I dispute them and maybe get them dropped off to raise my score.  I guess I have to wait and let them age.  That is my only idea at this point.

Re: I just don't get it....

But seriously-
That seems to apply to me, as well. Not really anything terrible, no BK, no forclosures or repos - and yet, like you - clawed my way to 620's. I have two mortgages in good standing.
However, if I paid off all my cc's today, I think my score would greatly increase. Could that be the case with you?

What else do you have in your reports? Good credit mix? Few if any CFLs? Nice long history (over 12 years)?
