Re: I'm not a bad person; I have bad credit!!!

Thanks Noah for the reply.

I think once your cards get charged off or into collection, A DMP probably will not help that situation.

My DMP is $30.00 a month which is the maximum allowed by law in my State. If I can find a breakdown of each state's laws.. I probably will see if I can post that to the list. If people are being charged $100+ a month for these services.. The company providing the service is more than likely breaking the law.

Re: I'm not a bad person; I have bad credit!!!

Here's what I have for the maximum amount per month a DMP can charge.. I am not sure how accurate this might be. It might be severely outdated.. If you are think you are being overcharged.. Do a little research to find out if this information is correct before you call your CCCS agency.. Smiley Happy

Re: I'm not a bad person; I have bad credit!!!

Wow ... people.  I am so pleased and proud to be a part of this forum, that so graciously rallies around the many of us who are, or who have been, in the shoes of tallygirl.

And to you, tallygirl, I say thank you.  Thank you for sharing your story and for becoming a part of we, here, who are all struggling, in one form or another -- some of us just to hold on to those 600 scores we have so struggled (and paid the piper) to acquire, and some of us just trying to break through the 400s.

You've taken the first step -- now all you need do is keep your feet moving, one after another and no matter how discouraged you may sometimes get.  Read the FCRA, over and over again, keeping in mind that because there are so many thousands just like you, laws were passed to protect and to defend you.  Learn them.  Know them.  Use them, should you need to.   Smiley Wink

Read all you possibly can, here, on this Forum, as well.  There are an awful lot of people who know the ins and outs of credit repair, and those who have been, or who are, where you are, who are making progress; and know, above all else, that you are indeed most welcome here, to this place  I have come to refer to as MyFico Forum Family, and on behalf of us all (I dare say) we are so very glad you came!

Re: I'm not a bad person; I have bad credit!!!

The two things I note are that A) you have a job B) you are looking for a part time job to help pay debt. I would urge you to think if there are any occupations you want to be in that pay more than your present one and have fairly short term and inexpensive training required. For some reason having a better paying first job is usually more effective at improving a situation than a second job. (You can always add part time later once you improve your basic income). Please do not be too quick to reject this as I'm sure the idea of getting more training or education seems extremely difficult now, but there are big dividends if you can find a way.

Re: I'm not a bad person; I have bad credit!!!

Thanks Pants and Mercyme for your info and support.  I feel as though I am more pro-active with my credit than reacting to everything.

Rhinocl-I saw your reply and it was great.  I am actually trying to get another degree right now.  I do agree with you that it's best to have one job that pays more money than a full and part time job.  But, I feel more confident that I can take care of these bills with my income if I budget properly.
