Need some advise here. I thought I was done with this topic but seems like it still is lingering on like the stinch of a skunk in a cold winter night.
Back in February of this year, after a long battle (posts of which are peppered throughout this whole forum), I was able to get an old student loan account that was misreporting sent for deletion. My scores from all 3 credit agencies were being suppressed due to this. After the creditor called me to let me know they had decided to delete the account, overnight the account came off Experian (score shot to 760+) and the next day it came off TransUnion (score shot to 780+). Yes, you can see where I'm going with this. It's now almost end of May and it has yet to come off my Equaifax report (which is still stuck at 705 showing this account).
I DO NOT want to file a dispute as that is what originally got me into hot water last year. I am scared to do anything electronic at this point.
Is this normal for Equifax? Has anyone else experienced a delay like this? What is even their process? Is all this not automatic? What should my next steps be?
HELP!
Equifax being Equifax - this happens with them sometimes - no idea why. My guess is deletions like this may be manual - increasing the chances of the request slipping through the cracks, but i really have no idea.
In any event - your gut feeling to avoid a dispute is correct. Instead, reach out to the lender and ask that they resubmit the deletion request to Equifax only. This is what i did when i had the same issue - took 9 days after the lender resubmitted the request for the account to finally be removed.
Good luck (and congrats on your success so far)!
You know it's funny the experiences that we have with these CRAs. My experience has been the complete opposite of many on here with Equifax. They were the first bureau to delete 11 inaccurate student loan payments from my reports; in contrast, I run into this issue that you're having with Experian. They seem to drag their feet about EVERYTHING when it comes to me and I just don't understand it at all.
Hopefully you'll get that deletion soon. I wish I had some advice for you but unfortunately, I don't. Best of luck to you and don't forget to let us know when they delete! 😊

Thank you for your reply. Did you wait for Experian to do it themselves or did you chase it some how?
Those idiots literally gave all of our confidential, personal information away 2.5 years ago. Why would it be the least bit surprising that they would screw up on such a simple thing? They're awful.

They did? All of the articles I read mentioned a security breach. I didn't realize they literally gave it away.
@Anonymous I'm still dealing with the issue and I'm almost to "throw my hands up and say 🤬 it" point....lol. The student loans are old and almost about to fall off anyway, so I'm over it. I got Equifax to delete on my first rounds of disputes. As a matter of fact, for EVERY dispute I've ever had with them, they've ALWAYS deleted the entire TL...I don't have any explanations of why and I don't bother asking. 😀
