Here is my situation: I work as a civilian for the US Air Force. Some of my duties require a security clearance. My clearance investigation was started last year. Today i got the news that it is being held up because of my credit. I guess the bottom line is that they want to make sure that i won't sell out the government in order to get my bills paid. Well, the problem is, is that most of the bad accounts will be coming off this year, with the one with the highest balance and the last one (a repo) coming off in June. I would think that because these things will no longer be on my credit report that i would be in good shape. Well, that isn't the case. They actually want me to contact the OC to come to some type of agreement or repayment plan for these accounts that will be gone in a couple months. Or have the companies say that i don't owe them any money. So my question is, if i contact these companies after they drop from my credit report will they make me repay them.

Timothy,Where did you start? What did you do? Did you have anything after the SOL had expired that you had to pay off?
