IC Systems Derog bites the Dust!

Like one of our other board members I had emailed the CEO of IC systems asking for a removal considering it was about 6 months from falling off anyways.

That was a couple weeks ago and no response. I resent the email yesterday and voila!
I got an email back and then a followup from one of the assistance with an attached copy of the letters being sent to the 3 bureaus to delete!

And that folks as they say is the end. This is by final derog/collection on any of my credit reports!!! I'm free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

I'll be paying down some balances over the next month or two to get my utilizations below 35% on a couple CCs and then will be applying for my mortgage.

According to Myfico score simulator, I'll be in the 720-780 range as soon as I take care of that....

I really have to thank all the nice folks here for all their help. Everyone needs to give themselves a big pat on the back.

Re: IC Systems Derog bites the Dust!

I thought DH's IC Systems had been permanantly deleted until I received a pack of paperwork in the mail today from them a letter and "validation".  When I DV'd I also disputed at the same time.  When the CRA called to verify they deleted because of the validation.  I never received the green card back that they had received the validation request ~ the account just disappeared.  Here is what their letter says:

"We will honor your request that IC System cease communications with you regarding the debt specified (I never asked them to cease anything..just no phone contact ~ all in writing by USPS) We are terminating further efforts and will not communicate with you again unless you contact us and request to do so.

However, you should be aware of the following : Once a week, IC, sends an electronic file to credit reporting agencies listing all debts that are unresolved and unpaid more than 30 days after IC began its collection efforts. (We never received any collection letters from them...requested DV because it was on DH's CR ~ I'm not sure if they are even licensed/bonded in TX to collect)  The credit reporting agencies may keep this debt information in their files for up to seven years.  You have the right to inspect your credit file in accourdance with federal law.

Your dispute has been noted and information verifying the debt is attached to this letter.

We are debt collector attempting to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose. "

So I will now have to watch the mail and CRs to see if it is reinserted...dang it!  I'm not understanding the statement they sent.  First it looks like Insurance paid everything then on the last page it looks like they didn't.  $425 original balance with $235 paid and insurance billed for the rest ~ OC is Mann Eye Clinic.  I guess we will do a PFD next if it shows back up on CR even tho DH swears he paid everything ~ this was before we met.

Re: IC Systems Derog bites the Dust!

So it showed back up on EX today as a collection account.  DH emailed Ken Rapp less than 2 hours ago and we just received an email back from Mr Rapp with a CC to someone named Carole to "check this out for me" regarding the email DH sent.

this is the email:

Dr Mr Rapp,

RE: Account # xxxxxxxx
       File # xxxxxxxx

I am writing this email to you in hopes that you will be able to help me regarding the above account your company is attempting to collect.

I requested debt validation on the account and yesterday received your company's response.  I am reviewing the paperwork that was sent and from what I can tell the debt has been paid.  My responsiblity shows to have been $270.00 of which $235.00 was paid in cash and the rest submitted for insurance to cover.  The final page of the documentation your company sent shows payments made to the original creditor.  At the bottom of the page it is handwritten that "NCS is non covered service".  It has been my experience that with eye care practioners and retailers they call the insurance company in advance to verify what will be covered and what will be the patients responsibility.  Mann Eye Center does not "bill" customers and allow them to take the product.  You are required to pay in full before you can leave with the product.  I should not be penalized and have a derogatory mark on my credit report because they did not do their job correctly in verifying what my policy would cover or even possibly having someone elses information added to my account in error.  The balance was paid in full and I left that day wearing my glasses.  I never received any type of collection letter from Mann Eye Center nor did I receive any phone calls requesting payment.  I was unaware of any collection attempt until reviewing my credit reports.

I would appreciate your help in having this erroneous account deleted from the Credit Reporting Agencies ~ Transunion, Equifax and Experian.  The account was deleted during the validation process and as of this morning it has reappeard on Experian.  I have not checked Equifax or Transunion at this time.

Thank you for your time

Hopefully we'll be hearing something postitive soon...but I won't be holding my breath.

I can't believe I didn't say this earlier...but KevinB way to go!!  And thanks for the great info on IC Systems!!

Way to go!  I got my email last week, and today IC Systems is deleted.  They did it faster than I thought they would.

Re: IC Systems Derog bites the Dust!

Ok guys....less than 3 days and removed from all 3 CRAs

now, here's the kicker...with no other changes other than the removal:

9/1/2007 TC FAKOS TU 678 EX 687 EQ 671
9/3/2007 TC FAKOS TU 701 EX 672 EQ 671

Now, you tell me how that can be...why would a 6 3/4 year paid collection give me a 23 TU bump? and a 16 point drop? and no EQ change?

Its got me shaking my head...

Re: IC Systems Derog bites the Dust!

As requested...

-----cut here----

Mr Rapp:

I'll apologize in advance for contacting you directly, but I don't seem to be
having alot of luck going through your regular channels.

I had a medical collection that went to your service from xxxxxxxxxxx.
Due to some insurance foulups and a rapid move due to my heart attack the copay
was not forwarded to me.

As soon as I learned of this, I paid the full amount with no questions.

I'm in the process of getting a mortgage for the first time and your entry is
the only bad mark on my credit report at this time. Since this happened back in
2000/2001, it is very near (less than 6 months or so) for this to fall off my
credit report due to age. I've contacted your company several times about
removing this early, I even went as far to dispute it with the CRA after the
suggestion from one of your staff. That however, didn't work so you are my last
hope here.

The account # with your firm is xxxxxxxxx.

If there is any way that you could help me out I'd appreciate it. As I said, I'm
not really asking alot since you have been paid many, many, many years ago and
it really serves no useful purpose anymore due to the many years since this was
paid. I've contacted the original creditor and they even called your company
saying it was ok to delete this entry at the 3 credit bureaus.

Thanks in advance and god bless.

Me Smiley Happy
