In some circumstances, creditors can report more than once a month it seems.

Hey everyone, I have a Walmart Credit Card (store card, not the Discover one), my statement ends on the 28th of every month, and they always report it around the 1st of each month. This past May 1st, they reported my balance on the card as $120. And shortly after the reporting date (May 1st 2015) I disputed a charge with Walmart Credit Card in the amount of $65.00 on May 8th 2015. So when I checked my 3 credit reports, they updated the balance owed as only $55.00 on May 8th, which is the day I opened the dispute. I also remembered that they told me that they do not hold card holders responsible for amounts they are disputing, which in my case I was disputing $65, so I guess that is why they changed my previous balance from $120 to $55. Has this happened to anyone else, whereby creditors report more than once a month on a balance if there is a dispute or some occurrence?

They can report as often as they want, but it costs to make that report I believe. However it is well documented here that Chase will do mid cycle reporting if you take a balance to $0. So probably not common, but with extenuating circumstances some companies will do it. I would imagine a disputed amount could be rather important.
