Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

Hi Everyone!

Within the lastt two weeks 6 inquires have been removed from my TransUnion Credit Report!  No rhyme or reason...all of the inquires we less than a year old, and one was just added in April!

I am not complaining, just trying to understand why this is happeningSmiley Happy  I only have 3 inquiries all from April when I went on an app spree..

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

Oh, my, yes. Smiley Happy

TransUnion did not assign enough file space (sorry, all you techies, I'm lingo-impaired) to hold records of inquiries. Those who pull their credit reports often (soft inquiries) often see hard inquiries vanish, as they have been pushed aside by the new inquiries.

They do have a way of coming back, though, so don't get too comfy.

BTW, the same thing used to happen with Equifax, although they've plugged a few leaks. Now they just lose old, closed accounts and split your file. Smiley Sad

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

Do you do daily or frequent credit pulls with a credit monitoring company such as Creditchecktotal or CreditSecure?  Some people have had this result in disappearing inquiries. Not me though. Smiley Sad

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

I pull daily from Credit Check Total because in April I applied and was approved for 4 new cards and I wanted to see how soon all of these TL would show up.   All of my accounts are reporting except for Victoria Secret and I opened that account in March...I am waiting for that last account to report and then I will switch to Fico Score Watch wince I will not be applying for any new credit until next year sometime.

Thanks for head up on the inquires possibly coming back...I have to honest, for a second I thought about applying for a new card, but I thought about my goals...(so glad I joined this forum!)

If you are using CCT they won't come back. People using TU resellers have had the inqs. reappear. For me it never mattered anyway. The only CC company that pulled TU was Barclays/Juniper.

Yes, I have! Tried to take advantage of a TU only puller. Must of been too good to be true, because they soft pulled EQ. Drats! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

I do daily pulls with TC. My LO pulled my credit yesterday and the inquiry disappeared today.

Well whatever checks EQ put in, they are definitely not working, i'm down to 1 from 14 in few weeks and this last one is from 3/31/2009! even the ones from Feb 09 are gone!
BTW, i have chase, CCT and Nat ID, and i pull daily from all three!

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

In that case, you might want to pull a full report directly from them, save it to disk, and also print it out. You're an awfully good candidate for a split file, and it will help them rebuild it if you have a copy of what's supposed to be on your report. You might want to do this with this current low inquiry count. Smiley Wink

Start suspecting a split file if you find your score swinging up and down by exactly the same amount --first 648, the 727, then 648, then 727, etc. This means that sometimes one portion of the file is being scored, resulting in a 648 score, and other times the remaining portion is being scored.

It's a PITA when it happens, and it takes them a while to fix it. Just a heads-up.

Re: Inquiries disappearing from TransUnion!

What's all this talk about "split" files?  I've never heard of it before.  Which bureaus are most likely to use this practice and is it legal?
