Re: Inquiries

MyFICO only shows Inqs that are within the last year. The full reports from the CRAs will shows Inqs that are within the last 2 years. Why? Because only Inqs in the prev 12 months count against your score.

Re: Inquiries

What is considered an acceptable amount of inquiries in a 12 month span?  I know even 1 hurts your score, but when does it get to the point when CC companies say too many?

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU
Goal Score: 720 EQ, 720 EX, 720 TU

Re: Inquiries

Straight from the horse's mouth: http://www.myfico.com/CreditEducation/CreditInquiries.aspx

"For many people, one additional credit inquiry (voluntary and initiated by an application for credit) may not affect their FICO score at all. For others, one additional inquiry would take less than 5 points off their FICO score.
Inquiries can have a greater impact, however, if you have few accounts or a short credit history. Large numbers of inquiries also mean greater risk: People with six inquiries or more on their credit reports are eight times more likely to declare bankruptcy than people with no inquiries on their reports."

Re: Inquiries

Do involuntary inquiries count?  I just sent a PFD letter to a CA and I think word got out.  Now a CA that I don't recognize has made an inquiry on my credit report.  Will that hurt me?  It's not exactly the same as me applying for credit.  Also, I noticed I have one inquiry that is over two years old.  Is there a way to have it removed from my report?  Would it make any difference?

Thanks.

For car shopping and house shopping, if you keep your credit requests within a time frame (used to be 2 weeks, supposed to be at least one month now), FICO will treat them as one. They will all be listed, but supposedly only one is counted. How we would know that this is actually being done correctly, I don't know.
