Is it normal to see different scores with different services?

Myfico is reporting my Experian as 613, TrueCredit is reporting it at 675 and Credit Secure by Amex is reporting it as 717. Other scores vary too, but not as much as my Experian. Is this normal? I always thought you scores were the same no matter what service you used. Guess not. So how do I know what to expect when they pull my scores for a new home purchase? These "estimates" don't really help. 613 and 717 is a HUGE difference. What is right?

Oh, my goodness, you have quite a collection of scores. It would be a miracle if any of them matched.

First things first: the only ones that count are FICO scores. They have a cheesy gold seal on them. You can get all three of them here at myFICO, your EQ FICO from Equifax, and your TU FICO from transunioncs.com (notice the cs at the end.) Even with them all being FICO's, they will vary, because the three CRA's (credit bureaus) all requested slightly different formulas. Additionally, many of us have credit reports that are slightly different among the three CRA's, so this affects the scores as well.

TrueCredit and Credit Secure are very useful for monitoring changes on your credit reports, but the scores that they supply are essentially garbage, and they are pretty universally called FAKO's. Credit monitoring services have realized that many of us consumers have vaguely realized that we need to know our credit scores, but most of us don't realize which ones are real, and which are bogus. So they're really cleaning up. And as you have found, one FAKO doesn't match another.

The scores that you pull here (with $$$) are "classic" FICO's, and they are the ones used for mortgage scoring. You can get all three with Credit Complete (see products tab above), or pull the ones you don't have with FICO Standard. Be sure to first Google for FICO coupon or FICO discount code to save yourself some money. (We don't publish them here out of respect for our forum hosts.) hope that helps
