Is there any risk of a creditor lowering my limit if I add an authorized user with poor credit?

I have a credit card with a 10k limit. I only have a few hindered dollars on it, so it really helps my credit to debt ratio. I have a family member with poor credit and I was thinking of adding them as an authorized user to this card to help them with their credit to debt ratio, which would raise their score a bit. I know that adding someone with poor credit as an au won't hurt my score, but I was wondering if there was any chance of the creditor lowering my limit if I have someone with poor credit on this account with me. Does anyone know?

Welcome to the forums.

Just adding an AU will not affect your credit in any way.

Adding someone to one of your accounts as an AU can help them IF the account is older than any of theirs, IF the payment history is long and clean, IF the utilization is very low, and IF it will report to the CRA's. Not all cards will do this. You need to ask the company first. They will inherit the entire history of this account. One caveat however; if this account starts to go south your credit will be affected as well. Keep that in mind.
