Is this normal? I think it made it worse instead of better.

Hi all-
I've been disputing and writing letters to the cra. equifax is my highest score, but i noticed there was some negative info on the others but not equifax. now that i've started disputing i have a svc that alerts me of changes and all that negative stuff now has started appearing on my equifax report, i haven't checked my score but i'm sure it's taken a dive for the worse??  do the cra's usually do this? i'm so mad i feel like i've just made things worse..any advice? words of wisdom?

Probably, what's happened is that the dispute process has ticked off the creditors and now they have decided to report to all of the CRAs. Stop disputing. Read these threads for ways to restore your credit

Bama, look at your CRs and see what your derogs are. Only dispute inaccurate or obsolete information.

CAs-DV, Lates-GW. Search the threads for DV & GW letters, etc.

The derogs will stay on for 7.5 years regardless of the SOL for your state.  SOL only means that you cannot be sued once the SOL is up.

The 7-7.5 year fall off time is the CRTP. The SOL is the time in which a creditor can't win a suit against you in a court of law. IOW, if they try to sue you after the SOL, you can argue SOL expired and win the case.

Re: Is this normal? I think it made it worse instead of better.

The CRAs don't do a thing (other than make life a nightmare for consumers).

A good PFD letter will have the "i dispute this debt" line in it - so trying to be 'in compliance' the CA reported to all three bureaus that this debt is 'disputed'.

Same happened to me with a DV - ended up on EQ also.  I have until Nov 2012 for it to fall-off and until Dec 2008 to be past SOL.  I I get sued I can pay it before hand to prevent a judgement.($169).  I am working on this one (OC is unreasonalbe and won't accept a PFD in full).

Don't just dispute with the CRAs - IMO that is a waste of time since all they do its code it to 2 letter code and ask the creditor if what they provided is correct.

Send a DV to the CA (in writing CMRRR).
