Issues w/TransUnion

So, I've recently applied for 2 credit cards that pulled my report using TU & I was declined.  This baffled me since my TU report basically mirrors my EQ report & my score is 632.  I came to the conclusion that something funky has to be going on w/my TU report.  I called & was advised that I was still "receiving credit" under my maiden last name.  I asked if that would affect me applying for credit & couldn't get a straight name. I was advised what to send in to correct my address but was advised that it was up to the creditors to report me under my married last name.  I don't understand why I just can't send in something to them to fix this mess.  I'm also confused as to whether or not I should use my maiden/married last name when applying for places that pull TU.  Has anyone else had this issue & can anyone offer some advice?  I have one recent cc that is reporting under my married name but on my file my married name is listed as "other name" as if I have an alias, lol.

Re: Issues w/TransUnion

Do you use your married name? Have you changed your social security to reflect your married name? Your driver's license?

If you intend to use your married name going forward, then you should change your name with each of your credit cards. It seems as if it's creating confusion now, and credit is tough enough these days...no need to add a layer of identity confusion.

TU can't "fix the mess" of your maiden name reporting. Your creditors will continue to report under that name if that is still how you are receiving credit from them. It has to be changed with each individual creditor.

I know...it's a pain. But life will be easier when you get it done.

Yes, I used my married name when I applied for 2 credit cards recently.  Yes, I do have a new social security card w/my married name as well as my drivers license.  I only have one active credit card & that is under my married name.  The problem is that all of my past credit history is under my maiden name.
