Items Dropping from Reports

Does anyone know when the clock starts on the 7 year rule?  Meaning, if I have a collection item that has been paid, what date is used to determine 7 years? 

Also, if I dispute the item as not mine...does that change the date for 7 years?

I believe its from the date of first reporting from the OC.

i believe they go by DOLA for a "paid" collection...
