J J MAC INTYRE Medical Collection Question

I have a J J MAC INTYRE CO medical collection that is due to fall off my credit report per experian in Nov of this year.

(Open Date 10/2005)

Should just leave it alone and let it fall off?

Re: J J MAC INTYRE Medical Collection Question

Is it past SOL?

Are you going to be applying for anything like a mortgage or auto loan soon?

If past SOL and you are going to be applying for something large, I'd try PFD, of course DV first.

If not past SOL, and I could pay right away in worst case scenario, and you are going to be applying for something large soon, then I'd DV, if validated, PFD, if not accept....see if I could wait until it fell to apply for whatever, if not and they absolutely won't accept PFD and lender requires, then PIF.

If you aren't going to be applying for anything, I'd let it fall and then PIF. That way they don't update it and the scoring model look at it as a "new collection" and ding ya.

Re: J J MAC INTYRE Medical Collection Question

Do you mean the date it was first delinquent was 2005, or the date it began reporting was in 2005? If DOFD was in 2005, it shouldn't be falling off any time too soon, it will just be out of SOL soon.

Re: J J MAC INTYRE Medical Collection Question

Per the experian report that I have, the "open" date or reported date is 10/05. On the same collection it says that "this collection is scheduled to remain until 11/2008.

I'm in CA so the SOL is 4 yrs.

I'm not planning on a major purchase soon, but I would like to do some Auto Shopping the first part of next year.

The open date doesn't matter. That is probably the date the CA aquired the account.

Personally, I'd let it fall off before doing anything. I don't ever tell anyone *not* to pay.

Paying collections is not supposed to affect your score either positve or negatively.

However, I do think that when the CA updates the account, it is viewed as a "new" or "recent" collection.

This is why I'd let it fall and then do whatever I was going to do on it.

Re: J J MAC INTYRE Medical Collection Question

Wow, congratulations on the fall off date.  I have an account with the same agency with open date 07/07 and scheduled to fall off 2013.  I'm in CA too.
