JDB attorney returned account to 'parent' JDB

This was for my best friend car that her junkie ex wrecked - it went into default in September of 1999 (as far as we can remember).

DV'd the attorney (Mitchell Kay) - they responded after the 30 days - this is the response:

In response to your recent communication, please be advised that we have noted your dispute regarding this matter

Accordingly, we are closing our file and will return this account to the creditor referenced above

Any questions regarding your credit report should be addressed to the creditor, as we do not report to the credit bureaus.

creditor is Palisades Collection

NOW WHAT?

Bizarre.  Probably means Palisades told the attorney that his services were no longer required.  No idea what to do here, hope someone can help. Smiley Sad

Re: JDB attorney returned account to 'parent' JDB

had something similiar happen to dw.

fbcs was calling to collect ona bally's account from 12-13 years ago, that i thought we paid. we lsot docs and other things in a storage fiasco. seems every year at tax time somebody starts calling about this account.

anyway, dv'd fbcs and got a our client asset can't locate docs to validate (no duh!). all collection activity has been stopped, and the account is being returned to asset. a day or two later she gets a letter from asset saying call to make arraingments. it also has a letter titled "debt validation" attached. the first letter indicates the information on the second letter was derrived from information from the docs rcvd from bally's.

question (i don't think it is), but would this be considered proper validation? should i dv these idiots? if it weren't for the storage incident i'm sure we would still have the docs from paying bally's.

Re: JDB attorney returned account to 'parent' JDB

large collection agencies often have smaller ones collect on their behalf. Sounds like Palisades bought the debt from the OC and was having JDB collect on its behalf. What has happened is that JDB for what ever reason will not be able to collect and so has forwarded the account back to Palisades.

So I'd assume that your next step would be to deal with Palisades. Who is the OC? Why deal with a CA in the first place?

The OC is Chrysler - and it's from 1999 (we think - it's the only car she had financed by them) - it was totaled in 1999 by her ex.

Past SOL, Past CRTP (if our guess is right).  Just trying to figure out next step - which may be to wait to hear something from Palisades.
