Judgement(HELP)

I have a judgement from FORD CREDIT. I Bought a car for my (ex)wife at the time, that she got repo'ed. Here are the details on Eq:

Judgment Type: Judgment  Date Filed: 07/2001  Case Number: 47600348

Will this come off in July after 7 years, or do is there something I can do? It's the only baddie I have. What normally happens to these in Florida?

HELP!

Re: Judgement(HELP)

Judgements usually remain on CR 7-7.5 yrs from DOFD or DOLA. You should be close to CRTP and this acct should be falling off. Sould be no later than 11/2008.  I would dispute with CRA's as past CRTP in August 2008. See if it drops. No harm in disputing at that time.

Re: Judgement(HELP)

Thanks for the advice on judgements.

I have also heard horror stories, where other collections agencies buy and restart the process on your credit. If I try to have it deleted or removed at that time, can this happen to me?

Re: Judgement(HELP)

I was told that judgements differ by state? I really hoping I can get this resolved after 7-7.5 years. It's the only tough baddie on my reports.

Is it 7 years or 10?

Re: Judgement(HELP)

Some BK's stay on for 10, judgments and collections stay 7-7.5 yrs. Good luck.

Re: Judgement(HELP)

Hi Nate...congrats on it coming off finally!! I have one with them too....still have a few more years...anyway, I am curious to know what your scores are now? At this point with all your good recent history, i'm assuming your score shouldn't be affected too much anymore.  Also, during this time, did you purchase a home? Or purchase another car and get approved?

Starting Score: 615
Current Score: 709
Goal Score: 750

Re: Judgement(HELP)

Thanks, but I'm not in a celebration stage yet.I just started working on my credit in December 07. I have some work ahead of me to get to my goal of 650 by 12/08, but I'm seeing progress.

Thank goodness for this forum.
