Judgement issues

Greetings all, The issue I am having is that I disputed a credit card I had a couple years back (Military Star Card) and they ended up zeroing out my balance and it has said paid/zero balance on my account for quite some time. Fast forward a couple years, income tax refund comes and I had 1500$ taken via a judgement from the Military Star Card issuer. What should I do? When I disputed it originally, I had some "credit expert" guy dispute it for me, so I have no clue what he had told them to get them to do it. This guy had told me he had worked for experian and knew the ins and outs of things. He actually disputed quite a few things which were removed without issue.

Re: Judgement issues

are you saying you have an active judgement on you that is NOT being reported on your reports?

Re: Judgement issues

I am assuming it is a judgement, how else could they take it? And No its not reported on my credit report.

assuming it's valid (sounds like it is), i would do everything in my power to pay that succer off and get them out of your life before they slap it on your reports. if it ever hits pretty sure you'll be branded with it for up to 10 years!

Re: Judgement issues

Well it is paid. They took it from my income tax refund Smiley Happy I was interested in getting that money back! Considering I disputed it a couple years ago and they dropped the balance to zero. Any chance?

Re: Judgement issues

well sounds like you did (or were made to do the right thing) and you came out of it far better off than most. i would count my blessings and not give them a reason to review what happened and make the corrections that would by far cost you more headache.

Re: Judgement issues

If I were you, I would tread very carefully and see if you can nonchalantly find out under what circumstances it was disputed & changed to paid. That way you can see if you are in the right to ask for the $$ back.

It could be that the credit repair guy was less-than-truthful in his dispute and you don't want to rock the boat too much if you're possibly liable for a fraudulent statement because of his actions.

Re: Judgement issues

Thanks everyone for the responses. I suppose I won't mention it to them then. My wife is somewhat pissed that they took the money (first time filing jointly and only married a year). I suppose she will have to be upset with me lol.
