Just An Observation - CK vs TU/MyFico

Recently pulled my FICO reports from here, got updated scores of 770/TU  and 753/EQ.  I realise that TU is here is not the latest and greatest.  I pulled my CreditKarma score and got a 776 score.  Only 6 point difference.  And I noted that they've been fairly close (at least for me) about 10-15 point difference in the past.  The gap is closing!

But the CK scores are useless. The TransRisk score offered there is not used by any lenders and the VantageScore is used by only a few lenders. Plus the VS uses a different grading scale than FICO. VS uses a scale of 501-990 whereas FICO ranges from 300-850. There is no way to compare the two scores.

Any narrowing of the scores is purely coincidental.

+1...my CK score is over 100 points lower than my TU FICO...and it doesn't include most of my zero-balance, high-limit cards.

I find it completely useless, but others like it.

In my wallet: AMEX Gold (NPSL), AMEX Green (NPSL), Local Credit Unions (2 cards: VISA, MC, $25,000 CL each)

100 points is quite a bit. I don't think mine have been that far off, but definitely in the high double-digits in the past. Was this the TransRisk?

In your situation, I'd let some small charge report on your typical zero balances and see if CK picks up the tradeline.  This is especialy true for anything which is effectively sock drawered.  Doesn't matter FICO-wise unless you're applying for something that month anyway as you can re-zero it for the next statement cycle anyway.

Yep...and for what it's worth (buffalo nickel?), their Vantage score is slightly closer...53 points lower Smiley Very Happy

It's a free website that lets consumers do daily pulls and monitoring..

Not useless at all..

It's score is useless, but the site? The site when used effectively isn't half bad, and is great for free..

+1

CK overvalues everything! Also they grade age of "open trade lines" they make up their own rules. Today it will be 6 points off tomorrow is will be 65 points off because your utl went from 21% to 26%.

Re: Just An Observation - CK vs TU/MyFico

A few days ago I received an alert from Scorewatch that my EQ FICO was 718. When I ordered lunch today, it was $7.18. Since those match so closely, I no longer need to check my actual EQ FICO because I know it will be the same numbers as the lunch special at the Thai restaurant across the street.

Actually, the price of the lunch special will probably be a better indicator of my real EQ FICO than any of the stupid FAKO nonsense available.
