10/1/13 I made a payment to my BAC cc in the amount of $1058.07 to pay it in full.
The following month I recieved 2 notices from the bank on the very same day.
The first said I had not paid my balance and that interest and late charges would be added.
The second said that another account I had with them had a credit of $1058.07.
I called immediatly to find out why the money had not been credited to the correct account.
I don't know if it was my fault or their fault, it didn't matter, and their customer service rep agreed.
The interest and penalty were deducted , the money transferred between accounts, and a zero balance attained.
THEN a few months later I checked my fico score and find it had dropped 97 points.
I have had a card with them and it has been paid in full every month for 18 years.
I have since called them only to be told it was determined it was not the banks fault my payment was late.
So here I sit with near perfect credit except for some asshooooo that has never tried to help anyone
Thank goodness there are plenty of other banks that enjoy my business because until this mess is straightened
up I refuse to use their cards. If it takes a while ,so be it. It is costing them money.
.
While I sit here rattling my brain, I forgot to ask the forum if there is ANYthing I can do to force Bac's hand ????
Thanx !

Rather than using the FCRA to dispute credit reporting, I recommend that you file a dispute under the Fair Credit Billing Act, which has evidentiary requirments not part of the dispute process under the FCRA.
FCBA disputes pertain only to billing related matters on revolving (e.g., credit card) debt, and have time requirments for filing, but when applicable, the process affords stronger consumer riights than the limited FCRA disute process.
Check out the FTC web page for a summary of the FCBA dispute process and how to file a dispute.
You definitely want to dispute that one.

Submit any records you have indicating that the proper account was paid on time along with your dispute. If you're not keeping such records then definitely start doing so.

You acknowledge that it could have been your mistake- do you have any proof (i.e. the email "pymt rec'd" from the cc) that it wasn't your oversight? If not, I'm not sure you can file a dispute. We all know front end CSRs say things that they have no authority to say and if you didn't get what was said in writing then I don't know that you have much of a leg to stand on
