Just received a GREAT phone call.

I had a repo in 09 that turned into a judgement. I tried settling with the company (Approved Credit) but no go. I figured it would just rot off my report. When I pulled my reports in July, I noticed a new company (Equitable Finance)reporting the CO. I fired off a DV email and they responded that they bought the original creditor. I started discussing a settlement and during that week, they sold a batch of accounts to a 3rd party. Mine was on e of them.  I immediately called the new owner of my account (handled now by Suttell and Hammer) and worked out settlement for release of judgement. As it turns out, the original creditor has not yet transformed ownership of the judgement through the court, so new owner can't release it. This morning, I called the original creditor (Equitable Finance) and asked them what the heck they were gonna do about it. The lady I talked to wasn't super friendly, but said she would look into it and get back to me. At this point I'm very irritated since the account is paid, I just want it gone.

About an hour later, my phone rings and it's a guy from Equitable Finance. I gave him a little history on the account and told him who I talked to at Suttell and Hammer and when I made the payment. He was very helpful and friendly. I expressed my frustrations over the whole matter and was happy to hear it. Turns out he is the owner of Equitable Finance. We had a great chat about the entire history of my account before and after his company bought it. He really wanted to make sure that I was treated properly that this account was handled in the manner that he wants his business ran. He also said they will not be responding to my disputes through the CRA's so that the account just falls off and he would personally be making sure that the judgement is released ASAP. And..... He gave me his personal cell phone number in case either one of those things don't happen.

Wow!! I'm so impressed. Talk about a satisfied customer!!! As a bonus, I was able to settle the original debt of near $18,000 for $1000 including full deletion of CO and release of judgement.

Re: Just received a GREAT phone call.

Wow that's amazing! I have a repo from 08 with a balance of $15,000. I am hoping they will come down from their $6,000 min settlement offer to $3,700. But your amount is making me second guess it though. Smiley Indifferent

Re: Just received a GREAT phone call.

Come back to them real low. You are close to it falling off your reports. Make sure they know you know that.  I started off offering $500. I knew that was ridiculously low. We both had a good laugh and agreed on $1000. Good luck!!
