I've received alot of letters before from lawyers etc..about collections and being prosecuted or whatever but I can'r recall getting a letter telling me that I had to appear in court. How would I find out if I indeed got the letter? Would i use that website link to find out?

Not necessarily.  In some states, service on you is valid if they serve anyone over 18 who answers the door, even if it's not you.

and there is alot of improper services, sometime intentionally by sending it to an old address.
