My guess is companies don't want to waste time inputting the info you send them on paper. They want you to dispute directly online so that most of the process is automated.

Just to let y'all know, Equifax has been contacted about this situation and I've been assured that, going forward, their dispute investigation folks will consider disputes coming to them via the myFICO letters to be legit and not from credit repair agencies.
