Licensed CA's...How do I find out?

How would I find out if a CA is licensed in my state? I am in Texas.

I don't have a resource, but have you tried googling california collection agencies in the advanced search section?

Re: Licensed CA's...How do I find out?

This may be a silly question, but why would I google for California if I live in Texas?

Re: Licensed CA's...How do I find out?

I looked around Texas' website and couldn't find anything. Looks like the Texas OAG handles violations of the FDCPA or FCRA. Looks like Texas also has their own version of the FDCPA. There's also a sub-unit within the AG office that handles consumer protection. It said in there that you can request, in writing, information on each CA. But I didn't find anything that could be accessed immediately (i.e. a database). If I find something, I'll post an update.

DOH! You said Texas. So sorry. My bad. I'm so used to seeing the letters CA as a state abbreviation.

My statement still holds valid. Google Texas Collection Agencies.

Thanks for pointing out my error.
