Loan

I really don't know where to ask this, and since this is my forum as I rebuild I figured here is better than not asking at all. Also, if this has to be moved, please feel free.

I am trying to find a good place that isn't predatory, to get a loan for around $5000.  This will be used to basically consolidate some items of mine.  I tried through NFCU and was declined, even though at the same time I was approved for a refi of my auto loan and a cashRewards card, go figure.  I have checked online and found most of those "bad" places or those that will approve me with a 30%+ interest rate....way not worth it.  Navy would have been great, I would have taken around $500 worth of payments down to $198, but alas, no go.  I was wondering with the wealth of knowledge on these boards if anyone can suggest a reputable place I could start.

thanks!!

Re: Loan

Your local CUs or another national CU.

Re: Loan

So go ahead and take the plunge and join another (if needed) then try, right off the bat?

Re: Loan

What I would do is check local CUs first, just ask to speak to the credit manager, tell s/he your situation, what you are after and can they help. With the nationals you would want to do research to see which one is more likely to helop you out. DCU might be a good one to check out after your locals.

Re: Loan

Have you tried Lending Club and Prosper?  I believe it's an SP to check out the chances of approval and rates.

If you got an NFCU CC, have you considered options like doing a BT or getting a NavCheck line?

Beyond these possibilities, I'd suggest taking your report around to some local CUs and talking to loan officers, as others have suggested.

I beleive Prosper wouldn't even let me try as my scores were not high enough for them.  Didn't try Lending Club.  I can do a BT but it won't cover the entire amount and what it would cover would put me at high utilization.  I have tried NavCheck previously, when my scores were worse than they are now, to no success.  Also, I am a bit weary to try for something else so close to already being approved for the auto refi, CC, and denial for the loan.
