Locked out from Chase?

When last I made a purchase with my United Club Visa, it came back as declined. Naturally, I called customer service in which the automated system simply informed me the account was closed. Huh??? Despite not being able to speak to a real person until the next morning, they also didn't share any meaningful information as to what happened to it.

3 DAYS LATER - I get flooded with emails and texts instructing me to call Chase due to restrictions placed on my checking account. Only this call went offshore to someone who simply read off a script to inform me of an account closure. They have no right to say that, especially since no explanation was offered either. A local branch manager who I've worked with previously wasn't much more help - forwarding me to some other department who again, read from scripts and was tremendously evasive.

What gives? People have no REASON, or RIGHT to just try and ruin someone financially like that! I won't stand for it, and welcome any suggestions on who can help restore the wake of destruction in my life as a result of this hurtful treatment.

Have you not used your visa united club, in awhile?

What kind of restrictions on your checking account?

Sorry for all the questions, just needed more information. 😉

Re: Locked out from Chase?

Happy to clarify - no, I use my Visa all the time if not daily. Checking account restrictions of being force-closed, checks not honored, no access to my online banking profile, account history, the whole 9.

Re: Locked out from Chase?

Heres a few things I've found,  to why chase would've close an account for...

suspicious activity or suspected fraud.

Chase may review your CR's looking for negative financial behaviors with other banks.

Too many credit lines opened in a short amount of time.

Over the limit fees.

Significant drop in CS's.

You said you called chase and received no explanation to why they were closed.

I would suggest to call chase again and ask to speak with a manager or supervisor.

Hope you find out what happened.  If you do, please come back here and let us know. That would help others, in case they find their selves in a similar situation. 😉

Re: Locked out from Chase?

No meaningful updates from me... Wondering if others here have been down a similar path, and know how to fix it. To my knowledge, none of their customer service numbers (even the dedicated Club line) would route to a supervisor who has any real authority - or would say something different than an ordinary agent.

United's customer service states they just follow whatever information Chase provides, factual or not.

The list of reasons LIGHTNIN posted could be potentially legitimate, except I wouldn't qualify for any of them. Even if I did, people at Chase have no reason to make judgements like that? I haven't been able to open an account for over 2 years.

No letter with any type of explanation? What about the return of any money you have with them?

Re: Locked out from Chase?

Stories on this forum of very similar things the happened to people in the past.  You will eventually get your money out, but the relationship is likely over and the card likely won't be reinstated as they cancelled the card along with the banking relationship.  Might be able to use the search function and see a few similar stories.  Sorry this has happened but Chase I haven't seen overturn these type of situations whatever might of caused it and you will never get the full reason likely either.

No clue...

Aren't those for previous customers who have done things like committed fraud, overdrafted accounts, that sort of thing? There is a reason I don't have any sort of limited-feature accounts open currently...

They have no right to say that... I would however be interested in hearing from those directly who got back in, and how - whether that was being wrongfully accused, defrauded, defamed, or what have you. As well as why Chase thought people deserve such horrific treatment. Right now, I can't do pretty much anything on the planet until they reinstate me and fix the resulting wake of destruction left in my life.

I got a new account with them after filing bankruptcy, but that was just an old checking account (closed and charged off with a balance, no credit cards). Years after filing, I applied for checking online and was activated in under a minute. I wish applying for credit cards was that easy...
