Locked out

Apparently there is a fraud alert on my credit report placed by Experian, although they can't explain why.  I have been unable to view the fico scores because of it.  I've sent in the letter to remove the FA, but do I also have to call myfico, or will the lock-out be removed automatically once Experian removes the FA?

Re: Locked out

I think you only need to get the freeze remove from Experian.  Fico pulls your Experian report to calculate the score, since Experian not allowing Fico to access the report, it could not calculate the score, etc.

Re: Locked out

I just found out that is you dispute something on your report as not mine or fraudulant charge that they will put a fraud alert on your report and will notify the other 2 bureaus of this as well. I had a charge on mine that was not make by me and I disputed an account as not mine (since it wasn't) and they put one on mine and notified Eq and TU. It's not hard to get removed and in some cases is a good thing to have on there as in my situation. Hope that helps.

Re: Locked out

Nope, the score for each individual CRA should be only for that CRA, in example: Experian should only be pulled when you only want FICO score from Experian.  As stated earlier by Nikko, seems like the other 2 CRA also notified by Experian to put freeze on your credit report ( I have no experience with this), that the only reason why you unable to get all 3 scores.  Either way, if Experian is the only auto-notify the other 2, then I assume they will also do that once you request the freeze to be lifted.

Re: Locked out

You have to write all 3 bureaus to get it removed seems they are nice enough to let the other 2 know to put it on but are not so nice to let them know to take it off.

Re: Locked out

i recently got a fraud alert put on because i took some names off my account--my name gets screwed up all the time. sure enough, Fraud alert. I've noticed my scores haven't changed on any website (this one, true credit) for about a week. hopefully the fraud alert isn't preventing score updating. A new account did post though finally, so I know they are updating the actual credit file

Re: Locked out

The CRA's have recently done that to me for disputing my name as being spelled incorrectly and too many digits in my residential address.Yesterday I got a letter saying that "I" requested an extended alert.Although I didn't, I personally think it's a great safety net.
