Locking Credit Reports Stop Soft CLI?

I'm deep into the Garden about 19months or so and looking to purchase first home early next year as my credit is approaching the 800's

Looking to lock my reports so I don't trip up and add a inquiry somehow..

Question is will locking my reports stop me from being able to get Soft CLI's while it's locked also will it stop me from Auto CLI's?

Trying to stay away from new accounts for now but don't wanna halt progress all together..

Any Clarification is much appreciated

Re: Locking Credit Reports Stop Soft CLI?

All current creditors can view your credit profile as they have a right, with that said depends on the lender if a SP CLI will work with a freeze.  Usually Sync requires reports to be unlocked although it is SP.  Other lenders such do not require this lets just say comenity.   Really depends on the lender etc if you got to temporarily lift a freeze.  With that said I would just avoid playing with fire if you are going for a mortgage soon or getting a CLI and possibly getting a HP from it from a mistake or a change in policy from the lender, etc.  It will not stop a currentl lender from giving you a possible auto CLI as mentioned any lender can pull a SP of your credit any time they would like for an AR.

Also I'll like to add on to the statement Sync usually wants your account not locked to award a cli as I have seen this numerous times in the forum.

Fortunately I have not had to unlock my accounts to receive a cli.

I have 2 Sync cards (Hsn and Care Credit) and put in a cli last year on both accounts that were locked and received approvals also this year I requested a cli on both accounts and was approved with accounts locked.

I am in unofficial garden and didn't want any hps especially for a cli. *by Jan 2022 I will have ZERO inquiries across the bureaus) currently Ex 0-Trans 2 and EQ 1.

You especially don't want new accounts or inquiries when a mortgage is in the near future and again especially since mortgage scores tend to dislike both (new accounts and new inquiries) within a specific time frame 12 months? <>

Re: Locking Credit Reports Stop Soft CLI?

Thanks for more info...My last inquiry falls off in Jan 2022 ...So everything is lining up nicely I would hate to ruin it ....Nice to know about SYNC because I use my PayPal card and Amazon store card frequently.....Hoping everyone else follows suit ...Would love to bolster limits as much as I can....
