Yup, iPhone 6 series is hardware limited to 8 slots.
I realized Wallet becomes too slow when adding multiple cards, especially launching to Apple Card. I have the 12 Pro and still see that issue.

Today my Apple Wallet on my iPhone is all of a sudden allowing me to add more than 12 cards. Usually I get a message I’m at the maximum number of 12, which I always thought was unfair because the Apple Cash Card counts as 1 of the 12 and I had no say in adding it, but I digress.
Today so far it has allowed me to reach 14 cards and the option to add even more cards is still available. I can’t add more than 12 to my Apple Watch though. I dont know yet what the new maximum is. I also don’t know if it is tied to a specific iOS as I am running iOS 15 Public Beta 3, which I installed yesterday! Someone on iOS 14 try it out and let me know if you can add more than 12 cards too!
I feel like I already know the answer, but I'll ask if anyone knows. When I got my last phone, they were out of iPhone SE 2020, so I took an iPhone 7. This phone supported less cards, does anyone know if the card limit was increased on this phone too? Other than this phone having a small battery and not having qi charging, and the smaller virtual wallet and needing to have more physical cards has been a major bummer, this could be a nice upgrade.
I am up to 24 CCs...not including my transit card and other Apple account, Apple Cash cards. Running 17.3 on iPhone 15 Pro.
Seriously? The iPhone 15 holds at least 24 cards???
Why didn't they do this with the iPhone 14... grrr
Even my HomeKey (front door lock) counts toward my secure card limit (the limit credit cards, debit cards, apple card, & apple cash are included in).
This alone makes me want an iPhone 15, although I also still want an iPhone 13 because I very much dislike being FORCED to use eSIM. eSIM is great, but phones need to continue to support physical SIM until all MVNOs support it (even some major carrier owned MVNOs don't support it yet).
How's the camera on the iPhone 15? It's sad, but being able to but most of my wallet on my phone really is a major plus. I just wish PA would let me have an electronic driver's license.
If I have to worry that 14 cards (16 - HomeKey and AppleCash) isn't enough slots, do I have a problem... no, no, it must be the rest of the world =P

An iPhone 15/Pro running the latest version of iOS can fit over 50 cards in Apple Pay. The limit has been removed entirely and it's simply only a limitation of how much data the Secure Element in the phone can hold now. The phone will even let you know that you're approaching the data limit on the Secure Element if you try to add more than it can physically allow and to remove a card or two to free up space.
