MY Score dropped 14 points for no reason.

I haven't opened any account within the last two months and haven't even had my credit pull and Today I received this alert.

Your FICO® score decreased to 684 on June 6, 2008.

This score decrease may be caused by these 3 new reasons:

  • You have a serious delinquency (60 days past due or greater) or a derogatory description on your credit report.
  • You've recently been looking for credit.
  • You have not established a long revolving credit history.

That's true I have 14 inquiries and had been late back in 2005. All my accounts are up to date and I only carry one balance. I don't understand why I received this score drop... It also says this which I don't know what it means.

Changes to your credit report
Your FICO® score went down on a day when there were no credit alerts on your Equifax Credit Report™. This can happen if:
  • There was a change on your credit report that lowered your score but did not trigger an alert. For example, the balance on an account might have increased enough to lower your score, but not enough to trigger a balance increase alert.
  • You moved from one category of credit users to another as time passed. For example, you may have transitioned from the category "consumers with a new credit history" to the category "consumers with a two- to five-year credit history". As a result, your credit report is evaluated differently, causing a slight change in your score. The good news is that moving between categories like this usually offers you the potential to reach a higher FICO® score in the future.

It sounds as though (and others, please correct me if I'm wrong!) you were "rebucketed."

As it said on the bottom:

That basically means you've been rebucketed -- where your credit history has "aged" enough to change from one category to the next -- therefore being compared to other credit-holders with perhaps better history/TLs/CLs, etc, than what you have.

Re: MY Score dropped 14 points for no reason.

What is the trigger for your balances set to on SW? If your util moved from say 28% to 31% that could have triggered it and it could be below the amount you have set up. Either that or you were rebucketed. Did you have any account birthdays recently?

How long is your oldest account and how long is your average age?

Re: MY Score dropped 14 points for no reason.

My Util is at 8% and I just dropped it down to 7%. I think I have been rebucketed. My othest account is from 2002. Cap from from 2005 and I opened up two accounts in october of last year and 3 this april. I think the one from october of last year has aged and that might be why I was bucketted.
