Macy's *poof*

Macy account was reporting/updating on the CR as recently as 07/11 as an open account in good standing.

When I checked my CR's last week, it was there.

When I checked my CR's this week, it was gone.   The number of accounts, etc adjusted for this account being gone.

The account was opened in 12/05, so it's not even 7 yrs old yet.

Anyone else experience a Macy's *poof*?

My wife had Macys card open in Nov 2004 and had disputes over the charge in Nov 05 so she paid and closed it in Dec 05. Still as of Aug 2011 Macys card is being reported as Open with a status of Paid as agreed with 0 balance on it. We recently went to Macys and the lady pulled up my wife's profiel with her SSN and she confirmed that the card was still open and in good standing.

We were thinking of closing that account but now are thinking of keeping it mainly due to age of account and no annual fees.

Keep it open.

Mine was open and reporting, zero balance.

There one week and gone the next.

Maybe they are using a laptop PC to store account information, and had to purge to fit them all on their hard disk?

RobertEG - you aren't making me feel any better about this open, with excellent payment history, account disappearing!  The darn thing hasnt' even been open 7 yrs yet!  It has no business borrowing Harry Potter's invisibilty cloak and going into hiding.   Bring it back!

Re: Macy's *poof*

Cloaking device aside, I would contact Macys. IME, I have/had 3 accounts with them. One was the revolving and two were the special financing accounts. One of those two were never used, though all 3 reported and updated monthly. One day, one was removed even though all 3 had reported monthly. I never bothered to call since it was younger than my AAoA, but I bet they routinely purge accounts. I can tell you that if you call them, and get a supervisor, the supervisor has the power to impact reporting of the TL. When one that wasn't used reported, I talked to them to inquire about it since I never opened it and they offered to delete it over the phone. Conversely, I bet they can get it to re-report over the phone.

Re: Macy's *poof*

I'm hoping you have better luck with this. I've called 3 times and their response is always the same. We closed and purged this account from our database. I have old statements from 2006, the card itself, and purchase receipts from 2002. But they steadfastly state they have no info about the account. This TL vanished from my CR as well. Was also told it would be "Impossible" to backdate a new card should I open one. The things we do to get better AAoA ... Anyways, good luck with this one!

Re: Macy's *poof*

No luck on this one!

Maybe they are getting ready to sell their credit portfolio?   Purging the system is something banks/creditors due before selling.
