Got an alert from WalletHub stating my closed Macys account dropped off my TU report
This account was closed with a zero balance with no negative dings ever. The account was closeed January 2016 so it should have remained on my report til 2026. The account was closed with a $100 credit limit having been balanced chased. The only "negative" reason I can think of is that the account was closed by lender. I always thought that the closure reason was only a *note* and had no impact on score.
Any ideas?
I will call TU on Monday

You cannot rely on wallethub or credit karma, as they use Vantage 3.0
Also the data can be erroneous or false. ..You should know better!
check on TU's FREE site "https://www.transunion.com/annual-credit-report"

"I always thought that the closure reason was only a *note* and had no impact on score."
FYI: *notes* have ZERO impact on score or approval's ..such as "Closed by lender".

An account can remain on your report for up to 10 years, but it's not guaranteed. It could stay longer or get removed earlier. I've had both happen to me.

Just checked ACR and the TL is missing from my TU report.
Checked CK-EQ and the TL is still reporting there.
Checked EX directly and TL is still reporting

It is a commonly believed myth in this forum that closed accounts must remain on your reports for 10 years. It is simply not true. Closed accounts can be dropped from the reports at any time.
I once had five (5) accounts, each closed from 1 to 2 years, dropped from my Equifax report. One of them was among my oldest. As a result, the AAoA on my EQ report is always 6 months less than the other two.
There are many reports of closed accounts being dropped long after the passage of 10 years, and many of them being dropped much sooner.
Pooh
Called TU this morning and they confirmed that this account is back on my report where it belongs He also confirmed that the removal date is 2025
