Re: Medical collections - Help for a new comer

Whatever answers will come put will help me out too. Ok here is another question- If I use the PFD way- on my reports the collection agency just says GLA- and the accounts of course don't have the full numbers. How do I go about getting GLAs address? (PS- deep down in the pile of debree in my office I think I have the original collection letters)- but if I use those won't that be admittance of my debts with them?
Thanks so much

Re: Medical collections - Help for a new comer

Is it the GLA collection company based in Kentucky? If it is I have the address here some place. Let me know and I'll try to find it for you. And to answer your question about the PFD, you specifically state in the letter that you are not admitting you owe the debt. You tell them only that you want to clear your credit report.

Yes, I believe it is KY. Thanks if you can find it. I am also going to go in my closet and try to find the originals. I know I have them somewhere.
Thanks

Re: Medical collections - Help for a new comer

The address is GLA Company INC, PO Box 7728, Louisville, KY, 40257-0728. Good luck. They're not easy to deal with.

Re: Medical collections - Help for a new comer

Ok, thanks so much. Now here is my question. If you read the thread about the newcomer w/ medical bills you will see how I ended up w/ the three accounts- which I never paid (I know- childish and foolish me) because I disagreed with how I ended up with them. Should I start by just trying to get a negotiation for a certain percentage and paid as agreed or should I really try for the PFD?

The first bill is for an air brace that they charged my 90 dollars for which I had no idea they were going to do- and then ins. wouldnt' pay. The second was for a charge for an Xray or something that ins. wouldn't pay. The third was an ER visit on a different occasion and because the Dr. smelled alcohol on our breath the Dr. coded the visit as "under the influence" and the ins. wouldn't pay.

Any more advice would be wonderful. Also- does anyone know if I did actually get these removed how much my points on my score would go up? If I can't get PFD and just get "paid as agreed with a negotiated amount" will that help my score too?

Thanks so much

Re: Medical collections - Help for a new comer

Netpanther, Yes, I have dealt with them asking for a PFD. The result was a list of every account that had ever went to their collection agency for the past 15 yrs and an update of the accounts within the 7 yr reporting period to the CRA's. Major hit to my scores as some of these (I have 8, amts averaging 30.00 each, I had no idea these were being reported. They are from the hosp. where I work we are not supposed to have out of pocket charges for in house services. hadn't updated in 5 yrs. Oh, and they also provided a sas envelope I guess they think I'm just going to write the check. Good luck, I hope they will work with you.
