Merchant code problem

Am I the only one (Mod cut -- not here please);

Applied for Savor One to use for Indian Wells tennis tournament as Entertainment; stmt says Membership Club so 1% not 3% Emailed both parties and IW didn't respond lol.

Applied for Disco It CB for Gym membership this quarter which ends soon; stmt says 24 fitness is Entertainment and Travel so it will be 1% not 5% lol

What should/can I do to address these problems?

A variety of individuals typically conduct limited tests with small or specific transactions (as applicable) to determine how it will code/post rewards-wise. The MCC is driven by the merchant or business entity, so if they're somehow not under the appropriate or incorrect merchant category (based on the type of establishment or business) then that's up to the merchant to correct it on their side, not the lender.

As far as Capital One or Discover, it may be a lost cause. While it may seem intuitive that these two specific businesses may be perceived and should have coded as the intended categories, they're simply not coded as such, by those specific businesses.

Also, please be mindful of the myFICO Forums TOS going forward; specifically, bullet point #5.

just had a chat with Disco and she said I will get back 5% nevertheless so that's great. Did email 24fitness about it also and if they don't change the code and keep that ridiculous travel and entertainment code, gonna use Savor One from next month, we'll see how it's reflected on its statement.

CO, have no idea how to contact them and as I said IW didn't reply lol. Now it's categorized as 'other' on CO stmt lol

Re: Merchant code problem

Disco chat is fantastic, instantly solved MCC problems for 24 fitness and Vons, confirmed they're 5% categories.

On the other hand, no chat function for CO, Eno is useless, I need to chat with live human lol.

Re: Merchant code problem

I use the lookup feature in the awardwallet app to get an idea that's assuming somebody else has already charged to that vendor. I've found that entertainment is a tricky category usually it applies to passive activity like movies and concerts. I have found that bofa cards with travel will categorize those as travel expenses

i use the bofa premium for this reason since I have a base of 2.625% and will be happy to get the 3.5% if it falls under travel, but you need platinum honors status

Chase (CSP,CF,CFU,southwest premier)
Barclay(jetblue, arrival)
Bofa(US pride, premium, travel, cash, Suzy komen)
Citi(Premier, Double cash, Costco)
Fnbo(Mlife)
Amex(everyday, cash, Hilton)
Blockfi
Caesars rewards
Sofi
Gemini
Cap One Savor One
