buildingafuture you are in the wonderful world of Equifax (incompetence comes to mind). Don't give up ... imagine your self a bull dog and you are going after some one? It took me two years and constantly biting on Equifax to get my report right. Be a pain and forget any niceness you may feel .... it is a waste of time. Go after them
Ultimately they surrendered and corrected the many errors. Now I have to say we can only legally dispute items that are legally incorrect but ... if they don't get it right you can keep chomping on them every thirty days (if my memory serves me right).
Good luck - Equifax is the worst.
There was an issue with my account, and after it all got sorted out, they put extended fraud alerts out. It took several weeks of letters to everyone to get it removed... and then they put it back. I had to speak on the phone with TU and EX repeatedly to undo EQs shenanigans (at least those reps were nice).
I had student loans and I wanted them to investigate a DOFD on one (of four) lines, and yup, they went into all four and validated them all as correct and put the "dispute" notification on my report.
Currently, I'm trying to get two addresses deleted from my reports with EQ. EQ has repeatedly said they would remove the addresses but never does, so I filed a complaint with the CFPB - we'll see how that goes.
It's the one CRA I won't be asking for an EE, because I'm pretty sure it will ALL go sideways with them.

Yup - Not worth the headache for the 30days.
