Multiple accounts from same CA

Does the number of collection accounts matter or is it just the total amount of collections? My fiance has three collections on his CR from the same CA for the same OC. The amounts are $151, $15, and $16. On the most recent letter from the CA, it has all three charges listed under one account number (the one originally listing the $151 charge), but there are still three separate collections on his credit report. Does having them listed separately make a difference? Thank you.

Send them a nice DV letter, it looks like they added fees and reported them seperatley that is a NO NO.

So, it DOES make a difference that there are three listed? It would be better if there were one listing for the total amount?

Tracy... what kind of collection is this for?

Sure it would be better if there was only one, but if the OC charged for separate services, then it's possible you can have them report for each one.

It's a medical collection. I don't have the original bill(s), so I don't actually know exactly what/how it's being billed.

Re: Multiple accounts from same CA

Yes, sounds like some co-pays.

I would send DV letter to them, and if validated, try to get a PFD. These are such a small amount, but it's hurting his report since it's listed 3 times.

ETA: since they are medical, if you haven't read Why Chat's HIPAA process, it may be worth a look. (google why chat hipaa)

Here's a little twist... Before we knew anything about this game, they called and set up a payment plan with my fiance and we made a payment on the $151 bill (originally $190). (At the time, we didn't even know about the other two little bills.) How does that affect what I need to do? Does it still make sense to DV?

Re: Multiple accounts from same CA

I would go ahead and send DV. If they validate, offer a PFD.

You can try to GW off the paid collection of $151.
