Charge off is charge off is charge off. If you have a balance on the CO CC, then it may still be counted in your util., so it will hurt your util %.

well, none of them are CCs....one is a verizon wireless account, one is an unsecured loan. & the 3rd is just a CA (midland, of course!) trying to collect for verizon.  only midland is showing a balance.

Well, does Verizon show a balance or $0? If a balance, can you try to work with them (PFD perhaps)? And that CA (Midland) have they been sent a DV? SOL on cellular is 2 years, so...

Likely pretty similar in the pain department. Definitely worth trying to get removed early if possible.

Re: My CSC Report

verizon shows $0.

midland was never sent a DV.  i got scared & made a payment in january of this year when they sent me arbitration paperwork.  this was before i found the forums, & i felt like i had no choice, since i had no money for a lawyer.  so i'm not sure how that affects me now.  Smiley Sad  the balance on this account is $530.

Re: My CSC Report

I am getting in deep water here, talking about SOL. Some of my Mod-type brethren have more experience with that sort of thing (think HappyDays, Sidewinder and Llecs). That said, I don't think that the payment resets SOL, but you ought to check your state statutes to be sure.

Also, I don't think that it would hurt to try to contact Verizon and work out a plan to PFD with them. Ask them to pull the account back from the CA too and both will go away from your reports.

Re: My CSC Report

i want to say i asked guiness about the SOL thing before....i live in texas, & i don't recall what the final verdict was, with resetting the SOL.  i have read lots of contradictory statements, both here & elsewhere.

thanks again!  you have helped me so much.  i will wait & see if someone else can offer any other information.

Re: My CSC Report

found this:

In Texas the collecting SOL cannot be reset unless acknowledgment of the debt is in writing and is signed by the debtor.Making a payment by check is a written acknowledgment.

looks like i reset it all right!  darn!

Re: My CSC Report

Darn it. Well, maybe you can go for a PFD with them. You haven't made any other payments this year though, right?
