My fico score is wrong.

Yesterday I went to the bank to open an installment loan. The bank pulled my equifax credit file and came up with a score of 785. Nice score except the score was wrong. This was my score from the day before reflecting no debt on equifax. Earlier that morning a very large credit card debt reported to my equifax file and should have pushed my score down to 690-710 as it always does. The debt was showing but the score did not reflect it. Is there always a day or so delay in fico scores? I think it may have confused them at the bank when I said I needed an installment loan to help my credit. LOL with a 785 score with huge credit card debt I didn't know what to say. I just told them the truth, that was yesterdays score reflecting no debt. 785 with huge credit card debt and new inquiries, not even possible. Unlikely I will ever see this score again. I believe if I added points lost for this debt my fico score could be 850-870. My socre will probably be 700 by tonight when fico updates and reflects my debt. It looks as if my scores are saved late in the day or early in the morning and any debt changes after that are not reflected until the next day. Is this possible? Smiley Very Happy

Re: My fico score is wrong.

There is NO DELAY in the score changes. The moment your score is pulled it takes a snap shot in time. ALL FACTORS from your CRs are taken into the algorythim and a score is spit out.

Your score will not change if the information hasn't changed.

Re: My fico score is wrong.

I pulled an equifax score power report and it is stating my credit file is almost debt free. It definitely is delaying in seeing my debt. This would be my dream score.

Re: My fico score is wrong.

Equifax credit file is showing a very different debt than my score power report. The bank also sees the debt but the score reflecting my score power report. Score power report was taken after debt showed on equifax. Score power must pull my cr from a mirrored server that is delayed.

Could I have a split file?

This doesn't sound like what I've heard happening with a split file. If you wind up with the same score the next day or so, that sounds more like what you were wondering before--a mirrored server with a delay. There have been too many times that I have had changes on EQ when I pull from TrueCredit, but these changes don't appear on the FICO EQ report for several days. That would certainly be an explanation for the lags in score alerts. Interesting!
