My last question.......

This the final question I have, then I will take action with the wealth of knowledge you all have given me.  I only wish I had stumbled upon this forum years ago.  I will post any news I get afterwards.  The question I have is, if the oc agrees to accept payment such as a hospital and I pay them as opposed to the ca, do I dv the ca, or the cra.  This will get the negative info deleted from my cr, right?

Re: My last question.......

If you're going to pay the OC, I would suggest having them pull it from collections. The CA should delete from your reports once the account is pulled back. If they don't, then DV them.

Good news is that these forums weren't around years. It is only about a year old. And welcome, BTW.

Paying the OC may not get the CA to delete off your CR. Its not uncommon for a CA to charge other charges once they receive the account. Paying the OC may result in a CR change of "settled for less than full" or "paid collection" if no extra charges. In either case, the CA would continue to report causing the just as much damage to your score as before.

Some have had success by talking to the OC directly, but get everything in writing.

IMO, I would DV the CA to get the correct amount due and then go back to the OC. In any case, I would pay 100% via a PFD.

You don't DV a CRA.
